The conference will establish and explore “measurement” as a boundary object in several respects: At the boundary of theory and practice, measurement is of concern to philosophers, historians, social theorists with different views of science. Problems of measurement cut across the natural, social, and human sciences and engineering. Weberian, Foucauldian, logical empiricist and many other intellectual traditions converge on questions of method, of standardization, of world-making in measurement. ...
